Our future

In many cities across this country and around the world, young people are learning more and more about the visual arts medium. The digital age has made the moving image much more accessible. A student can make a movie at school that can be watched around the world.

It is reported that students involved in CTE media arts programs are less likely to disengage or drop out of school. Students are eager to do what it takes to complete a video production which involves creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving. Students are energized by the realization of career and post secondary opportunities related to visual media arts.

In New York City, there are many successful media arts programs. Many have been around for years, and some are new programs just starting up. Some are focused on the technical aspects of filmmaking, some concentrate on drama and story telling, yet others are structured in writing, story telling or the social aspects of the media.
